Cheyney Wolves need OT to knock off Bloomsburg
2/9/2010

February 8……..Cheyney (13-8:6-2) needed overtime but still came away with a 92-78 road victory over Bloomsburg (8-12:2-6).  Tamir Smith scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Sharif Bray added a game high 24 points to pace the Wolves.  Rob Townsend scored a season high 15 points.

The Wolves built up a 16 point first half lead before settling on a 12 point advantage at halftime.  The Wolves were unable to deliver the knock out punch and the Huskies battled back.  Trailing 65-57 with seven minutes to play, the Huskies went on a 13-1 run to take a five point lead with 1:47 showing on the clock.  Bray recorded a traditional three-point play after a steal and a lay-up to cut the lead to one with 21 seconds remaining.  Trevon Johnson, led Bloomsburg with 19 points, made one of two free throws with 19 seconds to bring the lead back up to two.  Smith made a pair of free throws for Cheyney with 9 seconds on the clock to send the game to overtime.  The Huskies were unable to get off a shot.

In the extra period it was all Cheyney as the Wolves outscored the Huskies 19-5.  After Johnson made a pair from the charity stripe 20 seconds into the overtime, Cheyney went on a 16-0 run to secure the victory.  During the run Bray tallied seven points and Townsend six.

Cheyney will host West Chester on Wednesday night weather permitting.
