Cavs and Tigers Split Dramatic Double Header
4/1/2012

Wise, Virginia -  Dramatics were abundant on Saturday as UVa-Wise and Georgetown concluded a three game weekend series at Stallard Field.  The visiting Tigers took game one 5-3 in 14 innings before Brett Hytlon's walk off RBI single plated Danny Bates to give the Cavaliers a win in game two by the score of 4-3.

In the opener, the Cavs received two RBIs from Brian King who homered and doubled while also picking up an RBI from Brett Hylton.  It was the Tigers who had the final say in the contest as Mike Steinke and Ryan Serrato each collected RBIs in the 14th inning to give Georgetown a series win.

The finale was equally as dramatic as the Chris Wood blasted a solo home run with two outs in the top of the seventh inning with Georgetown trailing 3-2.  One half inning later, Brett Hytlon ended the dramatic day with a walk-off RBI single to left field scoring Danny Bates and securing a split of the double header.

Following the split, UVa-Wise is now 13-20 overall and 4-10 in Mid-South play.  The Cavs will return to action on Tuesday when the team plays host to Emory and Henry College in a non-conference action.
